The Organic Heating Centre

The 44 Megawatt Organic Heating Installation in Purmerend exists of a concrete bunker for the storage of wood chips, two metal boiler rooms for the 4 incinerators, some service and reception areas and a tall chimney. The black concrete storage bunker is poured in situ. The boiler rooms, service areas and reception are located behind a perforated screen of rusted steel. In the additional buildings the various areas are hidden behind sliding panels of grey louvers.

At the main entrance the steel screen is lifted. When the visitor enters he will immediately see what it is about: after the striking chimney by the road and the woodpiles in the front garden, he is received in a room with small trunks on the ceiling.
